FASHION WITHIN SPORTS PANEL
The Fashion Within Sports Panel is an annual event hosted by The Retail Studies Organization. Each year, RSO welcomes IU alum, stylist, consultant, and entrepreneur, Dan Solomon to lead and moderate a dynamic discussion featuring renowned athletes and retail professionals. This year, Aaron Nesmith from the Indiana Pacers and Trey Galloway from the Indiana Hoosiers will join the panel to share their insights, alongside Vic Garcia, artist and founder of Vic Garcia World.
This year, the panel will take place on Tuesday, February 25th from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm in the Whittenberger Auditorium in the Indiana Memorial Union, and any IU student can attend.
YOU are invited to apply for a design competition in a breakout room with Dan Solomon and Aaron Nesmith where you can present outfit designs for Aaron to wear during an Indiana Pacers home game. Then, Aaron and Dan will pick one students' design for them to curate. This is an amazing opportunity and opens so many doors for students interested in design and sports media. Students must apply and be accepted to participate in the design competition. The application is linked here and is due Sunday, February 23rd at 11:59 pm!
Trey Galloway will be joining the other panelists announced next in another breakout room, where you’ll have the opportunity to ask questions, engage in meaningful discussions, and gain valuable insights from their experiences. This is a great chance to connect, learn, and get expert advice firsthand! The application is linked here and is due Sunday, February 23rd at 11:59 pm!
*Please only apply for one breakout room*

PRESENTING THE 2025 FASHION WITHIN SPORTS PANELISTS...

First up, we have Dan Solomon, who is an IU alum. Dan discovered the opportunity to merge his two passions, fashion, and sports while selling rare garments and sneakers to the basketball team here at IU. As he began to grow his network, he was able to immerse himself in the world of personal shopping and styling. This all led to Dan starting his own consulting company out of college, helping hundreds of professional athletes with whatever they may need as well as helping small brands get off the ground. He has since launched Closet Tours which is a company that allows consumers to shop in the closets of their favorite athletes and other talents in the music, entertainment, and athletic industries.
Up next, we have Aaron Nesmith who is a Forward for the Indiana Pacers. He played college basketball for the Vanderbilt Commodores before being drafted 14th overall in the 2020 NBA draft by the Boston Celtics. He was part of the roster that reached the 2022 NBA Finals before he was traded to the Indiana Pacers. Aaron also has a strong taste in fashion and has grown in fashion within the sports scene through his expressive tunnel fits and brand collaboration with New Balance.

Next, we have Trey Galloway from the Indiana Hoosiers! Trey is a fifth-year senior and plays Guard for our Hoosiers. He previously played for Culver Academies and was ranked as one of the Class of 2020's highest prospects in the state of Indiana. Trey recently announced his partnership with Rhoback, an activewear company that is known for top performing fabrics and versatile designs.
Lastly, we have Vic Garcia, artist and founder of Vic Garcia World. It started when he was a business student in Boston, searching for a suitable path. He had no interest in art, but what started as pen and marker drawings on copy paper quickly evolved into a whole world populated by an overflow of characters he created. Using his art to express things he never could with words, his freestyle work and newly realized passion soon began to infest his room from walls to beneath the bed. Everyone, from his friends to guests wanted to take a piece of VGA home with them, but it wasn't until after college, when he went to work for his dad that it became obvious that art had completely taken over his life. Lost in the world, he created, he made the decision to go full-throttle into what came so naturally to him.
